Checking your SSS contributions is super easy!
Most of the working population in the Philippines make monthly contributions to the Social Security System (SSS). If this is you, you’ve come to the right place – we’ll show you the bare basics of what an SSS contribution is and exactly what types of benefits you’re entitled to! Here’s how to check SSS contribution online.
What is an SSS contribution and how to check SSS contribution online?
The SSS is a social insurance program for employees in the Philippines. They provide health and retirement benefits to keep people’s minds at ease in case of health-related issues.
If an employee can’t work because of sickness or injury, there is a daily cash allowance for the number of days they’re indisposed.
Similarly, this is a cash allowance paid for when someone can’t work due to childbirth (or miscarriage).
A monthly payment or a lump-sum paid to someone who suffers a partial permanent disability.
A monthly payment or a lump-sum paid to someone who does not work due to old age.
A monthly payment or a lump-sum paid to the beneficiaries of someone who is deceased.
A grant for the deceased family members to pay the burial expenses, ranging from Php20,000 to Php40,000 depending on the contributions made by the deceased.
A cash-loan for employees who need a quick cash injection.
How to check SSS contribution online to see how much is in your account?
The SSS contribution is 11% of an employee’s Monthly Salary Credit (MSC). It caps at Php16,000.
It’s important to note that in reality, an employee will only pay 3.63%, with the employer covering the remaining 7.37%.
Let’s say for example you earn Php20,000 per month. The contribution will be capped at Php16,000, so you’ll pay Php581.30 and your employer pays Php1,178.70.
