This Filipina Visited Around 5 Countries In 17 Days, Spending Only PHP15,000 (S$380) On Transportation & Hotels
With just a little extra savvy and effort, you can afford to visit more places than you thought.
Travelling abroad can be quite expensive, but one Filipina Facebook user has proven that with a little low budget travel know-how, you can travel to more places than you’d think.
“You don’t have to be rich to travel well,” Facebook user MeaKryztine Aquiviano wrote in a post that has since gone viral.
She travelled across five countries in 17 days, spending only PHP15,118.50 (around S$380) on transportation and hotels. How did she do it?
Low budget travel tips for transportation
Aquiviano writes that she always looks for promo fares when booking flights. Here’s how much she spent on transportation:
To get the best deals on flights, follow the social media accounts of budget airlines and turn on your notifications for their posts, so you’ll be one of the first to learn about their promos. You can also subscribe to their newsletters — but this only works if you actually check your emails regularly, of course.
You could also try looking at price comparison sites like Skyscanner or Hopper. These sites not only let you see which airlines offer the best prices, but also when would be the cheapest to travel to your preferred destination.
Low budget travel tips for hotels
Aquiviano also stays in backpacker inns to spend less on accommodations. Here’s how much she spent on accommodations:

Apart from her transportation, she and her boyfriend allotted PHP15-20,000 for food, entrance fees, and shopping.
“What you spend in your travels depends on how much you eat, where you want to go, and what you want to buy and experience,” she explained in Taglish. “If you’re on a really tight budget, you have to exert a lot of extra effort.”
To Aquiviano, what’s important is having a good time and making memories for future stories. “You can always make money,” she wrote. “So save up now and enjoy later!”
